100 Mile Charity Bike Ride

On the 21st January 2025, our Managing Director, Darren took on the Coast to Coast Challenge in South America, covering 100 miles for 10 consecutive days.

The 1000 miles saw Darren cycle from the Pacific to the Atlantic, through Chile and Argentina and facing the Andes. It was all for a worthy cause as he raised over £10,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust. They are a charity that carries out cutting-edge research on cystic fibrosis, whilst supporting those who have the life limiting condition with there being no found cure yet. Only half of those born with Cystic Fibrosis live past their 47th birthday and sadly 2 people in the UK die each week from the condition.

‘I have decided to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, as a member of our Lloret team has personal experience of this terrible condition, with a niece and nephew who both have Cystic Fibrosis. Thank you for any donations’ – Darren.

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited condition caused by inheriting two faulty genes, one from each parent, with 1 in 25 people in the UK being carriers of the the faulty gene. The faulty gene disrupts the salt and water, with the body creating thicker and stickier mucus building up in the lungs, digestive system and other organs – damaging organs over time.

People with CF are prone to…
• Severe chest infections
• Abnormal bowel movements
• Difficulties in gaining weight

Congratulations Darren on completing this epic challenge!
