Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Awards 2025

We are delighted to share that Lloret’s Founder, Ray Smith, won the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Awards 2025.

Ray’s love for engineering and his philosophy of keeping things simple has been evident throughout his career, driving him to push the boundaries of HVAC control technology. Ray’s technical expertise and passion have driven Lloret to push the boundaries of innovation, creating the foundations for us to continue leading London’s Building Controls sector.

Ray was one of the first people to adopt Trend’s products when they entered the market in 1984. He worked alongside Trevor Marsden from Trend to develop the code and together they created an automated Trend wiring diagram. The concept was originally called ACE, now known as SET, is still the basis of the Trend (Honeywell) configuration tool being used across the world today.

Ray has continually been hands-on designing, manufacturing, and commissioning BMS control panels from 1971, converting pneumatic control to analogue, through to his favourite project designing the BMS and the Plug and Play wiring for the 2012 Olympic Media Centre.

The award was thoroughly deserved, congratulations again to our very own Ray!
